The Toshiba Tecra R10 is an attractive 14.1″ business notebook featuring the latest Intel processors and Nvidia Quadro NVS 150M wrapped inside an impressively thin shell. The Tecra R10 inherits its good looks from Toshiba’s Portege line of business notebooks, but are good looks and an impressive spec sheet enough to meet the demands of road warriors? Take a look and see what we have to say about this sleek laptop.

Lightweight, well-built, and offering plenty of performance, the Toshiba Tecra R10-S4401 is a well-rounded business machine with enough punch for plowing through spreadsheets or even through enemies on the digital battlefield. This $1,549 notebook also offers a helpful PC Health Monitor utility for anticipating problems and suggesting tune-ups. This is in addition to the hard drive protection, spill-resistant keyboard, and security features Toshiba typically offers on the Tecra line. The LED-backlit display and keyboard could be better, but overall the Tecra R10-S4401 is a good choice for business users on the go.

Business professionals will agree that having ample screen real estate is vital to their productivity, but those who frequently take their laptops on the road often settle for smaller screens because portability is critical. To its credit, the Toshiba Tecra R10-S4401 ($1,549 direct) is one of the few lightweights that can pull off a 14-inch widescreen on a 4.2-pound frame and still give you features like a built-in optical drive and speedy parts.

The all-new Toshiba Tecra R10-S4401 is a thin-and-light business laptop that delivers good performance and a wealth of features. Its $1,549 price will keep it out of the reach of bargain hunters, but the Tecra R10 is attractively priced when compared with similarly equipped machines in its class.

A 14-inch notebook does not have to be boring. It does not have to be heavy either. It can be interesting, well designed, and might even even resemble the manufacturer’s $2000+ flagship model. With some of those thoughts in mind Toshiba released the Tecra R10. The R10 is a 4.3-pound notebook with integrated graphics that has a lot of the same DNA as Toshiba’s high-end ultraportable, the Portégé R600.

Toshiba’s Tecra R10 is a mainstream business laptop offering a comprehensive set of features plus a decent sized display, all while keeping the weight down to a reasonable level. Available since late 2008, the Tecra R10 is a somewhat unremarkable looking laptop, but comes with an ample specification for running business applications. It is also Toshiba’s first laptop with a 14.1in wide-screen display to weigh in at less than 2kg – although only just.

Good business notebook should be lightweight, reliable, fast and with long autonomy and good quality. Toshiba built Tecra R10 for business users that travel a lot and we will see if Toshiba fulfilled its goal. At first sight Toshiba Tecra R10-10S doesn’t look tough. This impression is consequence mostly because of slim and flexible cover. Surprisingly, even under severe bending of cover, there was no picture distortion. After thorough inspection we concluded that toughness and quality of Tecra R10 aren’t that bad. Although if you expected casing that can withstand extreme punches you will be slightly disappointed.
